Atenista, Lasalista, at iba pa, basahin niyo ito.
I just came home from Ateneo. Tonight was the reception dinner for those who made it to the Director’s List this year. Not everyone of course. Just those who are in the
The highlight however was when my parents and I got to talk to the Dean of the JGSOM after the dinner.
In his opening talk, Dean Rudy Ang said that he was really itching to talk about the rankings of the schools which
In that ranking by The Times of London,
But to this idea, Dean Ang said something interesting. He said that in doing such a thing,
Another thing about that survey. According to Dean Ang, that ranking was based on 4 criteria. First, employability of students upon graduation in which Ateneo was the best in the country. The second criteria I forgot but we also topped it. The third one I also forgot but I remember that we were behind UP in this criteria. The last one was where we placed last.
This criterion was about something like the effectiveness or competency of the teachers of Ateneo. It was a shock that Ateneo placed last in this criterion. Certainly, Ateneo has one of the best faculty in the country. Several teachers have doctorates in their fields. Most of them also have Masters degrees from prestigious schools from around the world. Some of these schools include
Why is it then that the Ateneo was ranked 4th behind UP,
Ateneo de Manila didn’t know what the data was going to be used for. As a result, The Times of London counted a very high student-to-teacher ratio for Ateneo.
What about
What makes it even worse is that La Salle knew about this flawed data used by The Times of London yet they never lifted a finger to correct the mistake. And now they're using it to get back at Ateneo? What a shame for an institution of such prestige to do! Well, if you look at it. they're consistent anyway. Just look at their basketball program.
Oh yeah! They got suspended from the UAAP for "unknowingly" fielding illegitimate players. Now tell me. Those players had been playing for almost 2 years already when they "discovered" the issue. Is it just me or isn't 2 years such a long time for them to be able to "discover" such a thing? Most Ateneans would say that they knew it all along and that they just revealed it when it was about to blow over. But in fairness to La Salle, they could really just have discovered it. But wait a minute. Doesn't that just show that the administration and the coaching staff and the other people concerned are too incompetent to discover such a thing even if they had 2 years to check on these players' records? (Wait, this isn't the topic of this article. Sorry for the digression. :p) Let me stop at that thought because it after all isn't the real topic of this article. Moving on...
Now, you might say that I am just a bitter Atenean who can’t accept the fact that our rival school is better rated in the world than our own school. I admit that there is some feeling of resentment on my part. I believe it is alright to show everyone how good you are. But I don’t think it’s the same thing as showing how good you are OVER YOUR RIVAL. What I am merely doing is defending my school. All my friends know that I do love Ateneo very much. I feel that it is just right for me to defend my school from all these insults and undeserved criticism.
After all, hindi ka ba mapipikon kung gaguhin ng karibal mo ang nanay mo?
anyway, if you want to read more, here is how Ateneo explains the survey. Click this!!

end.
e tapos nung UPCAT results na ang inilabas, nawindang ako. as in. kasi PENDING ako.
PENDING.
(so ano yun bagong bukas na subdivision?! model units open for viewing.. hahaha... ui jowk lng.) so xempre ako excited na naman. haha..
edi aun nga. pagdating namin ng parents ko sa venue (Escaler Hall), andami nang tao.. at nag-umpisa na. eh sa harap (as in sa pinaka-front row. pinaka na, front pa.) na lang may vacant seats.. ayaw ata nilang umupo dun eh. haha. kaya dun na lang kami ginuide at pinaupo.. so parang yehey. kitang kita namin yung screen at ang speaker na si Dean Rodolfo "Rudy" Ang of JGSOM. (tama ba, un nga ba name niya? haha. sori.) at in fairness ang saya niya maging speaker.. nakakatuwa. nung una nga, hindi ko akalain na dean siya eh.. late kasi kami so hindi namin naabutan ung intro sa kanya. tapos aun. kwento siya nang kwento. about ateneo, the students, the campus, basta everything about ateneo. even the rivalry between ateneo and la salle. hahahaha...
basta.
mahal ko ang ATENEO. (pero syempre next to UP lang.)
kaya kapag may nang-away dyan, affected ako.
ano, try mo?
