Who would you choose to save?

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?

Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make........

Scroll down

Scroll down further

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally. But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how farsighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.

The great critic Leo Velski Julian who told the story said he would not try to change the course of the train because he believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train's sirens..

If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track! Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

What about the Fans? UE loses protest.

by Tony L. Atayde

07/29/08

Every single team has had their problems with the UAAP, either with the Commissioner Almighty, the referees or both. It’s getting to be a circus more than a basketball league.

Look at the expressions of the coaches and the players every time the whistle blows. They have lost all their trust and faith on the referees and most of all, the Commissioner. What have has the Almighty Commissioner done to our beloved league?

He made his powers be known with selective strength on the 2nd day of the league. He took it upon himself to make an example of the defending champions by making sure HE CALLED THE TECHNICAL FOUL for the coach having no ID.

He thought everyone would cower in fear as he sat in his chair watching the La Salle - Ateneo game. Then he must have thought “Why stop with Pumaren? Let me give Black a technical foul too for good measure”.

What he didn’t count on was that there is a website like inboundpass.com that had pictures of UST Coach Pido Jarencio not wearing an ID the day before. But did he do anything to make amends for his oversight and inconsistent call? That would be asking for too much. The Commissioner used the most inane excuse that has come out of the UAAP, “it did not affect the outcome of the game”. I am sick and tired of this excuse.

To show that the officiating is under his responsibilities, look at how the refs approach him during a game and at every chance they get. He must have thought that we, the fans wouldn’t notice this unusual homage being paid to the Commissioner.

In the La Salle - FEU game, both teams were being victimized by the awful officiating by the National Amateur Blind Referees Organization. After the game, he took it upon himself to ban one of the referees for a badly called game. He was quick on the gun to suspend when he felt like it.

Lo and behold another issue comes up when, in their game against UP, Ateneo fielded 2 players who did not have the patches that the rest of the team had. Again it was inboundpass.com that had the pictures to show this “oversight”. Did the Commissioner do anything about it? Of course not! Why should he when UP did not protest. However, he has demonstrated what he can do with the powers that he has. He neither reprimanded the table officials nor the referees for the oversight. He just kept quiet. What happened to his quick gun with the bullets of suspension?

Then the Mac Baracael shooting happens. Rumors start going around that the gambling syndicates were involved. But it’s all speculation even if Baracael himself said on national television that it was a probability. Another black eye for the UAAP.

In last Sunday’s UEFEU game, the officiating had turned from downright horrible to extremely embarrassing. The only plus in that scenario was that it was equal opportunity ineptness, as both teams were slapped with infractions that should not have been and non-calls on infractions that should have been called.

After FEU won the game, UE paid the P100,000.00 fee (in the NCAA, it is only P10,000.00) to protest the result. UE claims that the officiating was so bad that it had directly affected the outcome of the game.

Based on the past games, UE may have a point here. If they lose the protest, what they would have achieved is sending a strong signal to the Commissioner’s office that they need to straighten up their act.

But as I am writing this, I was informed that UE lost the protest because according to the Commissioner “it was a judgment call”. How could it be a judgment call when the basis of the protest is a clock which is supposed to be a unit of measure? Now I have seen everything, or have I? I am sure that we will see more surreal reasons as the season goes on.

It’s already getting bothersome that the UAAP Board has done nothing to curb the total lack of order that the Commissioner should bring to the league. It is about COMMAND RESPONSIBILITY. Should the league wait until every game will have the possibility of a protest because of the bad officiating? The league is getting eaten up from the inside and the Board needs to act and act decisively.

Teams are now looking at every game with suspicion. The officiating is so bad that there will be more protests in games to come. Can you blame the teams when they see that the problems could be avoided by just having better referees and table officials?

It is not about the validity of protests anymore. It is about the absence of trust in the way the league is run, especially the officiating. So who are the referees answerable to? If the Commissioner has been able to suspend, he must be the one who is overseeing the quality (or lack of) of the officiating. Remember that the Commissioner has 4 assistants under him and still there is no improvement.

I, and thousands of others, love to watch the UAAP. Many of the fans wait all year for the league to start. If we didn’t care we wouldn’t react this way. We pay for the tickets, we watch the commercials and buy the products that are shown when the games are telecast, we smile when our teams win and are very sad when they lose. We are the fans who have made the league the most successful basketball tournament in the country.

Look at the NCAA. It is run better. The officiating is superb. Yet the absence of the fans has made it a marketing nightmare.

The fans of the UAAP are what the league is all about. Don’t forget us. Don’t forget that we deserve better than what we have gotten so far. Look ahead and see what awaits you, if nothing is done.

What about the fans? Who represents us in the Board? Who will speak for us?

It was jazz an ordinary day.

The skies were clear, the birds were chipping.
Grabe, andaming fans, pull-packed talaga! Dahil fans nya rin ako, nakipila rin ako.

Then suddenly, out of the loo, may bumulong sa akin ng: "Indaaaayyyy. ....."

Huh? It sounded like a familiar sound. Who can it be now?

"Dodong!" sigaw ko.

Napalakas yata voice ko. Kasi the other fans turned their backs to their behind at napatingin sa amin. Sabi ko "Sorry, I didn't mean to be loud and proud." Hinawakan na lang ni Dodong ang kamay ko at lumayo kami from the crowd.

"Kamusta na Inday? Do you come here open? tanong nya.

"Bihira lang, Dodong. I'm just droppings by. Ethnic and schedule ko eh" sabi ko.

Memor ies came flushing in my mind. How can I forget to remember Dodong? I was just starting my tour of duty kay ate
Naging kami for a while then after that were not an item anymore.

"Tanghali na Inday. What did you say we have lunch together?" tanong ni Dodong. "I don't mine" sagot ko.

Sa restaurant, nilapitan kaagad kami ng waiter. "What's your odor sir?" sabi nung waiter kay Dodong.

"Do you have porkshop?" tanong ni Dodong.

"Yes sir" sabi nito. "Our porkshop with a resistance to the teeth of boast of our chef. Domestic careful selection of pork with littl
e fat of female liking is used. The exquisite cooking which repeated trial and error and was completed. it also has healthy vegetables with salad feeling fully" dagdag ni ya.

"And you mam?" sabay tingin naman sa akin.

Hmmm... mukhang masarap yung porkshop. Pero I'm cutting down on my carbon kaya pinigilan ko.

"I'll just have water, thanks.

Teka teka, this is going too far. Besides, it's a long, long way to run.

"Reality chess, Dodong. May asawa na ako, si Jay. As a mother of fact. I'm happily married" pagmamalaki ko.

"Di na pwede yung tulad ng dati. Sorry pero I did
n't expect you still have more feelings than I expected. i don't want you getting the way. Past is fast. Therefore, cause and defect." dagdag ko pa.

Tumahimik sya. Parang may language barrel na namagitan sa amin. The seconds that passed seemed like fraternity. Di nagla-on, nagsalita na rin sya. "I don't care less!" sigaw ni Dodong.

Shocks, give me a brake! To think it's his other woman that caused our separation to part.

Kinabahan na ako. I felt speedbumps all over my body and was having panic attach. Pero sumunod pa rin siya like a monkey on my butt. Hanggang sa makakita ako ng security guard. Biglang nawala si Dodong.

"Excuse me kuya, pwedeng magtanong?" sabi ko sa mamang guard.

"Of course miss, I can help you with my pleasure." sagot niya.

"Saan po ba ang exit? Could you point me to the right erection? I got lost in my eyes."

"Diretso lang." sabi niya. "Then turn right anytime with care."

"Thanks for your corporation" sabi ko.

"Nyahahaha! You can run but you can hide, Inday. No matter where you go, there you are!" pananakot nya.

Oh no, is this the end? This is too much, I feel degradable. My world started falling afar.

Then suddenly, Jay come from behind! Dodong was caught to the act! In the matter of minute, it's all over. I'm out of arm's way.

"Thanks Jay, my love. But how did you?" bago pa man ako matapos, sabi niya: "I was in the neighborhood. Fans din ako ni Angel eh. I heard you shout but at first I didn't give it a thought. Pero nang makita ko kayong magkahawak ng holding hands, then i give it a thought. I know something is a missed."

From then on, Dodong did not brother me again. In fact, he didn't even sister me. As in platonic at wala na talaga.

Lalo pa ngayon, open na kami sa isa't-isa at walang exhibitions. i feel I'm on cloud.

biruin mo, P 0.50 na lang ang text?!

but where's the catch?

-----

For those who was not able to see, hear or read the SONA yesterday, the President said that she was able to convince the telcos to cut inter-sms or text messaging rates by half. That means from P1.00.. its now down to just 0.50 cents.

Let’s take a closer look at this. Its a “PROMO”. Meaning it’s not a permanent thing yet.

Here’s SMART’s promo about it.

Smart released an info about their “text to others” promo on major broadsheets yesterday… the day of the SONA.

You need to register to avail of this promo. to do that, type: TO20 then send to 2827.

Meanwhile, if you are a Globe or Touch Mobile Subscriber, you will also need to register. Text TO20 and send to 2868.

For both networks, you have to maintain 21.00 balance before you register. After registering, P20.00 will be slashed from your load. You then have to maintain P1.00 for you to still be able to avail of the promo. Once you are registered, you will now have 40 sms credits for you to be able to use to send text messages to other networks. And it will be valid for 1 day only (24 hours).

50 cents Text to others promo

Just a reminder, 1 sms mesage means 150 characters.

After you consume all the 40 sms credits, any message sent to other networks after that will be charged with the regular rate of P1.00 per sms.

So to summarize:

1. You need to register
2. You need at least P21.00 available load
3. After successful registration, you will be given 40 sms credits to other network
4. 0.50 cents will apply if you

* Still have load (at least 1.00)
* You are still enrolled in the promo (1 day only)
* You have not yet consumed the 40 sms credits.

Here’s more info for Globe’s promo (and i think is also applicable to SMART subscribers - but i’m not sure of that)

* Text to others will be prioritized over free text messages. Meaning even if you still have free sms credits but you are enrolled to the promo, your sms credits for text to others will be consumed first.
* You can also use text to others even if you are also registered or using UNLITEXT
* Multiple registration for Text to others promo is allowed. Meaning you can register again and again even if you aven’t consumed your first 40 sms credits from your first registration. If you register again, you will then have another 40 on top of your first registration and the period covered will be extended based on your last registration.

Both promos started last JULY 28, 2008 and will end OCTOBER 22, 2008 unless extended.

Oh, SUN cellular’s sms cut is a permanent offer. Its called Budget Text.

You just need P5.00 and you will then have 10 sms credits ti use for other networks. But, you still have to register to use it. Text BGT5 and send to 223. Another way is to dial *230*2*17#. This will enable you to purchase Budget Text 5.

So, it looks like only SUN made the reduction in SMS rates a permanent thing. But if you’ll listen or watch the speech of the President yeterday, she was so happy announcing it and like what i said here, it was one of the most applauded part of her speech.

By the way, i assume that registration to these promos are free. I haven’t verified that yet.

Also, you won’t see this promo or details of it in any website of the participating networks. But they were saying that they were not forced to give this promo.

I am for the reduction of the cost of SMS messages. Reduce the cost within the same network and those for other networks as well. But making it free will clog the network. Right SUN? =p

Mac Baracael shot; WAS critical, but now in stable condition

FEU star Baracael shot, in critical but stable condition

by Tony L. Atayde

FAR EASTERN University mainstay Mac Baracael was shot tonight, July 24, 2008.

Baracael was reported to have been with teammates Ron Cabagnot and Robert Kave outside the FEU gym when a car drove by and a shot simultaneously heard.

After Cabanot and Kave looked around, they saw a bloodied Baracael on the ground. The shooting occurred at the corner of Morayta and R. Papa streets, near a Philtrust bank branch.

Cabagnot and Kave said that they did not see who fired the shot. Reports say that Baracael was shot twice at the back with a .45 caliber, with the bullets penetrating his body. Reports also say that one of his lungs was punctured.

As of presstime, Baracael is in critical but stable condition at the Mary Chiles Hospital in Sampaloc, Manila.

According to FEU coach Glen Capacio, Baracael is in “stable condition but still under observation.” FEU representative to the UAAP board Anton Montinola, for his part, called his player’s situation “delicate.”

This is a horrific and unfortunate incident that warrants our thoughts and prayers.

inboundpass.com is one with Baracael’s family, loved ones and the entire FEU and basketball community in praying for his speedy recovery.

FEU Tams basketball player shot, in critical condition

MANILA, Philippines – A varsity player of the Far Eastern University senior men’s basketball team is fighting for his life after he was shot Thursday just outside the FEU premises.

Mac Baracael was at the operating room of nearby Mary Chiles Hospital where his FEU teammates rushed him.

According to Anton Montinola, the FEU representative to the Board of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, Baracael, a key player on the FEU rotation, was shot just outside the Philtrust Bank at the corner of Morayta and R. Papa streets.

“He was with two other players when a lone gunman shot [Baracael] using a .45-caliber pistol," Montinola said.

Montinola said in a text message that the gunman walked away after he fired two shots.

Dr. Honesto Marcos of the surgery department of the hospital said that Baracael was brought to the emergency room at around 8:35 p.m. by teammates and was taken to the operating room immediately after.

“The point of entry of the bullet was approximately through the lower thorax posterior aspect, left side, and then it exited just below the nipple line," Marcos said.

Montinola said Baracael’s parents had been notified and were on their way to Manila from Quezon province. – GMANews.TV

MAC BARACAEL, the FEU mainstay who was shot in the evening of July 24, is out of danger.

The police investigating the crime say that Baracael was shot twice but only one bullet hit him. Baracael was walking back to the FEU campus and was a few steps behind teammates Ron Cabagnot and Robert Kave. He said he felt someone walk up behind him with a gun and before he could react, was shot.

There had been initial reports that a silencer was used but authorities claim that the sole gunman could have taken advantage of the heavy downpour to muffle the sound of the gun. Witnesses say that the man calmly walked away after firing at Baracael. Though many witnessed the shooting, no one could identify the shooter.

Authorities also said that the crime seems to have been well-planned and that the act was not random. The target was Baracael mainly because of the proximity of the suspect from the victim.

Today, Baracel was wide awake and faced the media from his hospital bed. When the press interviewed him and asked who may be responsible for the crime, Baracael said that he had no known enemies. He, however, openly admitted that there was a strong possibility that gambling syndicates could be behind the shooting.

Different law enforcement agencies are said to have joined the investigation and are looking into the shooting.

Shooting of cager may be basketball-related – cop

07/25/2008 | 05:36 PM

MANILA, Philippines - Police refused to speculate if game-fixing had something to do with the shooting of Marcel Baracael, star basketball player of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, who's still recuperating at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.

But it could be a basketball-related crime, according to Police Officer 1 Sherwin Yumul of Manila Police District Station 4, which has jurisdiction over the capital city's Sampaloc district.

"We cannot say game-fixing. Not yet," he said. "But we are looking the possibility of his being a varsity player as possible motive. We cannot speculate. And besides, we have yet to talk to the victim who is still recuperating. We have to get statements first of his teammates and others to help us establish the lead."

Baracael was shot at about 8:20 p.m. at the corner of R. Papa and Nicanor Reyes Streets in Sampaloc while walking with teammates Ryan Cabagnot and Robert Kabe.

They had come from the FEU gym and were on their way home, when a man walked up to them and shot Baracael in the back, the bullet exiting through the cager's chest.

His teammates took him first to Mary Chiiles Hospital, and he was later transferred to the Capitol Medical Center.

Witnesses described the gunman as about 5’-1" tall, wearing a red T-shirt, short pants, and slippers. He also had a backpack.

Arnie Minique, 38, vendor, told police that the gunman fled toward Espana Avenue. He apparently used a gun with a silencer, which he put inside his backpack before walking casually away from the scene.

Shooting of UAAP star linked to basketball, sources reveal
By Inquirer Sports Staff
Philippine Daily Inquirer

TWO MORE PERSONS PRIVY TO the case of varsity cager Marnel “Mac” Baracael confirmed Saturday the Inquirer story that the threat on the life of the Far Eastern University forward was related to basketball.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident may have been related to the dropping of a member of the FEU team in last season’s tournament for suspected game-fixing.

“Baracael and another player reported the suspected player to team officials,” the source added.

While police remained clueless on the motive of the incident, another source disclosed that the Baracael incident may also be related to a recent UAAP game.

The second source, in fact, added there is another player who could also be a target by the person or group behind the Baracael shooting.

The source did not identify the player for security reasons, but said he was also a possible target because he played well in an FEU victory the Tams were supposed to lose.

Despite the proliferation of different theories, however, PO1 Sherwin Yumul, the lead investigator in the case, said “the motive of the shooting is still not clear” even after talking to Baracael extensively.

At least three unimpeachable sources told the Inquirer on Friday, less than 24 hours after Baracael was shot near the FEU campus, that the attack could have been the handiwork of people who wanted to manipulate the outcome of the Tamaraws’ games.

One of the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said the shooting “had something to do with games.”

Another source, an FEU official, said certain people wanted to punish Baracael after the cager “squealed on the existence of game cheats in the team.”

Fearing for their lives, two of the sources have declined further interviews. The Inquirer sought the third yesterday but his mobile phone was turned off. All the sources declined to say how they learned about the motive for the shooting.

Wounded Tamaraw: I will come back
By Cedelf P. Tupas
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 05:56:00 07/28/2008

MANILA, Philippines—The motive behind the threat on his life may still be a mystery to the authorities, but one thing is certain for Far Eastern University cage star Marnel “Mac” Baracael: He wants to pursue his basketball career.

“Kaya ko ito, babalik ako (I can overcome this, I will return),” Baracael, who was shot by an unidentified assailant Thursday, said in a television interview.

FEU athletic director Mark Molina Sunday told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the 6-foot-3 Baracael is responding to treatment for the gunshot that punctured his lungs and fractured two ribs.

Molina, however, ruled out Baracael for the remainder of the UAAP season, which is the Quezon native’s last playing year in the league.

“He can still play,” Molina said. “The question is when. We are hoping Mac can continue his playing career.”

Baracael was walking toward the FEU gym with teammates Ron Cabagnot and Robert Kave Thursday night when the suspect shot the 23-year-old cager from behind twice with a 45-caliber pistol.

At least four Inquirer sources claimed that the incident may be related to basketball.

One source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the shooting “had something to do with games.”

Another source, an FEU official, said certain people wanted to punish Baracael after the cager “squealed on the existence of cheats in the team.”

But Molina said it is still “very premature” to speculate on the motive.

“We are making sure that Mac (Baracael) is secure,” Molina said.

Tama, Mac. Don't lose hope.

Pero I really, really, really feel bad for him. He got a punctured lungs, fractured ribs, so pano na? Eh basketball is really a physical game. Nakakalungkot, his dreams were shattered, courtesy of those no-conscience-money-greedy people. I know I'm speculating pero you can't blame me and those people who believe that this incident was indeed game-fixing related. They're so powerful, manipulating several games to their own advantage. THANKS TO THEIR DIRTY MONEY.

Try researching more and you'll know who this syndicate I'm talking about is. From rice to games? They are in control.

) i know you can survive this.

and to you, JR Cawaling, itaas mo ang bandila ng FEU Tamaraws sa gitna ng mga pangyayaring ito. go go go!

INTENSE. The UE-FEU duel last Saturday.

The FEU Tamaraws dedicated their win to Mac Baracael.

INTENSE.

UE-FEU = an ADMU-DLSU game?

PWEDE!!

na-prove nila yun kanina. ang galing, grabeh. exciting!

Intense talaga. that's how i would describe the UE-FEU game kanina sa ULTRA, 4pm. after ng UP-DLSU game.

so after nga ng game ng UP at La Salle, nag-stay muna ko para manood ng game ng UE at FEU. syempre, to support UE. next team ko yun after UP eh! UE at ADMU. haha. :D

nanood ako for two (or more) reasons:
1) to support UE nga

Saksi Report - Mac Baracael shot by unknown gunman

o madami-dami yan. BASAHIN (AT PANOORIN) MO HA!

nga pala, GET WELL SOON, MAC!! :)

GRABEH TALAGA!!!!!!!! i love their game kanina! super exciting! yung tipong mapapatayo ka talaga sa pagsigaw kahit na hindi mo naman teams yun. haha. ewan ko lang ha. ganun kasi ako kanina eh. :))

NAGHAHABULAN LANG, kumbaga.

which made it even more thrilling to watch.

kasi, it was anybody's ball game talaga. di mo talaga masasabi kung sino mananalo. kasi kunwari ngayon, lamang UE. after mga 10 seconds, pantay na. tapos FEU na! tapos.... BASTA!

but don't get me wrong.

BE PROUD! hahaha... :))

o tapos nga. game ng UE at FEU.

ang iingay ng magkabilang teams!! kanya-kanyang cheer at sigawan. kanya-kanyang wave. kanya kanyang drums. et cetera.

sa UP kaya, kelan magiging ganun?

UE:
1. Elmer Espiritu
2. Marcy Arellano
3. James Martinez

4. Hans Thiele (keri naman sa galing eh.)
5. and the rest (talaga!!! lahat sila.)

FEU:
(only) JR Cawaling [15]

ui si Cawaling, next to Chris Tiu ko yan ngayon! so next year, pag wala na si Tiu, si Cawaling na ipapalit ko. hahahaha!!! :))

back to the game na nga.

grabeh talaga. nung 4th quarter ko na talaga na-feel yung super duper todo to the max excitement. habulan kung habulan nga kasi talaga drama nila eh. so db naman, syempre ikaw na nanonood, mapapasigaw ka na lang sa mga pangyayari. palitan lang sila ng pag-sh-shoot eh.

AT nung last 2 minutes na lang ata, ayun. SUMABOG NA. haha.

pero wala eh. they failed. :(

i feel bad for them.

BUT I FEEL REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD FOR MAC BARACAEL. sad talaga.

imagine, with just a gunshot, all of his dreams and future plans were shattered?!? madrama, pero totoo. :((

may nabasa kasi ako na nabutas daw yung lungs niya. so db, malabo na siyang makalaro this season. eh unfortunately, LAST SEASON NIYA NA DAPAT THIS YEAR. so ano? wala na. sayang siya. MAGALING SIYA EH.

and i think even in PBA na dream niya, baka mahirapan na siya. kasi basketball requires physical strength db? pano na siya, mahihirapan lang siya. :(

waah. ka-lungkot talaga. so sa kung sino mang may pakana (marami sila. it's a group daw eh.) nito kay Mac mac, humanda kayo. KARMA NA ANG BAHALA SA INYO.

and besides, 'yang pera niyo? DI NIYO NA RIN NAMAN YAN MADADALA KAPAG KAYO NAMATAY EH. tapos mangdadamay pa kayo ng buhay ng ibang taong tapat at totoo na hindi katulad niyo. tsk. tandaan niyo, DARATING DIN ANG ORAS NIYO. :|

UP @ 1-5.

What's new, right? Siguro naman sanay na tayo sa ganyan. Na mas malaki yung number sa right side kesa sa left. sus, naka-survive nga tayo last season na 0-14 eh. at least ngayon may 1 win na kahit pano. haha.

Game ng UP at DLSU kanina sa ULTRA, 2pm.

una, naiinis ako dahil sa mga referees. langkwenta, mga epal sila. first quarter pa lang! mga first 2 or 3 minutes pa nga lang ng game eh. pinag-iinitan na nila sila Jay Agbayani at Magi Sison.

yun bang parang bawat galaw nila eh may pipito agad. Foul agad. lech. parang wala nang ibang makita yung mga referees kundi sila. grr.

kaya tuloy halos sa karamihan ng games ng UP eh hindi sila nakakatapos, lagi silang na-f-foul out nang maaga. arrghness.

pangalawa.

si Woody Co.

kilala mo?

si Woody Co. Woody Mo. Woody nating lahat.

ewan ko ba ha. pero kasi, nung first (hanggang 2nd ata?) quarter, karamihan ng tira, pasa, rebound, at kilos niya eh palpak. as in. ultimo freethrows, sablay!

pang-apat.

BABANGGAIN KO LAHAT NG EPAL NA HAHARANG SA DADAANAN KO!" wala. walang ganun.

kaya ayun. puro turnovers.

HINDI NILA ALAM KUNG ANONG GAGAWIN NILA. kaya ayun, naaagaw pa tuloy ng kalaban. which results to MORE turnovers.

pang-lima!!!

wala, hindi siya naglaro. BANGKO LANG SIYA BUONG GAME. hmm... bakit kaya? ayan tuloy natalo na naman tayo. hahahaha.

pang-anim.

syempre, UP Pep Squad, the bEST!

astig talaga sila, ever! super nice ng halftime performance nila. astig. astig. astig. UP Pep Squad ROCKS! no doubt.

AT!

sana lang talaga........... SANA.

magtino na sila. :|

sori. may naisip lang uli ako. nung opening pa ata 'to.

"'UAAP'' WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE AND WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT 'UP'."

gets?

pag walang UP, AA lang.

hahaha. corny ko, sori. :))

ako, may naiisip akong dahilan.

nung Saturday ko lang 'to napansin after ng game nila against ADMU. (go chris tiu!! haha.)

[#7, Mark Lopez]

hahahaha..... ang sama ko noh?!? :))

btw, naging classmate ko nga pala siya sa Eng 1 nung first sem last year. hahaha.. so wala lang. bati ko naman siya eh. di ko siya inaaway. :))

eh kasi naman noh. ganito kasi.

last year, kung maaalala niyo (malamang, oo.), 0-14 tayo. as in wala tayong napanalunan kahit isang game. at kung maaalala niyo, KALBO si Lopez nun buong season. as in he's BALD. NO HAIR.

so parang........ hmm.............................

WALA LANG. :))

as in WOAH!

nagulat ako.

tanong mo kung bakit.

"BAKEEEET?!?"

kasi nung nakita ko siya, may hair na siya!!! as in hair kung hair talaga. kulot kulot pa nga eh. hahaha. oo, walang koneksyon yun. :))

eh tapos, nung first game ng UP sa Araneta (against NU), naglaro siya nang ganun yung itsura niya. MAY HAIR.

and guess what, NANALO TAYO, db?!?

edi ayun nga. nung first game, may buhok si Lopez, nanalo tayo.

(hai nako, he never fails to surprise me. yak. hahaha!) KALBO nanaman siya, men.

and what, we lost.

hanggang sa 3rd game (vs. FEU).

at sa 4th. (vs. ADMU)

oh well, papel, jesselle.

kahit anong mangyari, UP FIGHT pa rin!!

go ADMU and UE din!! hahahaha... :))

grabe, totoo ba 'to?!

from ace!

This is a story from University of the Philippines (Diliman) about a young college girl who passed away last month. Her name was Tiffany. She was hit by a dump truck. She had a boyfriend named Noel. Both of them were true lovers. They always hung on the phone. You could never see her without her cell phone.

In fact she also changed her network coverage from Smart to Globe, so both of them can be on the same network, and save on the cost and get good network coverage. She spent half of the day talking with Noel. Tiffany's family knew about their relationship. Noel was very close with Tiffany's family. (Just imagine their love). Before she passed away she always told her friends "If I pass away please bury me with my hand phone" she also said the same thing to her parents.

After her death, people couldn't carry her coffin, I was there. A lot of them tried to do so but still couldn't, everybody including me, had tried to carry the coffin, the result is still the same.

Eventually, they called a Feng Shui Master. He took a stick and started speaking to himself slowly. After a few minutes, he said "THIS GIRL MISSES SOMETHING HERE". Then her friends told the Master about her intentions to bury her with her phone. He then opened the coffin and places her phone and SIM card inside the casket. After that they tried to carry the coffin. It could be moved and they carried it into the van easily. All of us were shocked. Tiffany's parents did not inform Noel that Tiffany had passed away.

After 2 weeks Noel called Tiffany's mom and said, "I'm coming home today. Cook something nice for me. Don't tell Tiffany that I'm coming home today, I wanna surprise her." Her mother replied... "You come home first, I wanna tell you something very important." After he came, they told him the truth about Tiffany. Noel thought that they were playing a fool. He was laughing and said "don't try to fool me - tell Tiffany to come out, I have a gift for her. Please stop this nonsense". Then they showed him her grave. Noel said, "It's not true. We spoke yesterday. She still calls me." Noel was shaking. Suddenly, his phone rang. "See this is from Tiffany, see this..." he showed the phone to Tiffany's family.

All of them told him to answer. He talked using the loudspeaker mode. All of them heard his conversation. Loud and clear, no cross lines, no humming. It was the actual voice of Tiffany & there was no way others could use her SIM card

since it was nailed inside the coffin. They were so shocked and asked for the Feng Shui Master's help again.

The Master brought his co-masters to solve this matter. He & his co-masters worked for 5 hours. Then they discovered one thing...

GLOBE HAS THE BEST COVERAGE, WHEREVER YOU GO, THEIR NETWORK FOLLOWS...

ANG LAKAS TALAGA NG GLOBE KAHIT NASAAN KA MAN! KAYA GLOBE NA KAYO NANG KAYO AY NAKAKASIGURADONG MALAYO ANG MARARATING NINYO!

YUN LANG.

O ANO, CARRIED AWAY KA NOH?

What's happening to UP?

------------------------------------------- start of post ---------------------------------------------------

(FYI for those who don't know: kanina me mga estudyante nag-walk out to call for the resignation of our president due to a lot of things)

1. the most important question of all...if PGMA resigns, who will replace her?? VP De Castro?? come on! i know YOU are smarter than that. VP De Castro is a good vice president but i don't think he will be a good president, and i think he knows that too. (good man, that guy)

2. you're whimpering like a battered dog about oil price hike. it's a GLOBAL thing. Oil price hike is not an isolated case in the Philippines. it's happening EVERYWHERE. I know the times is hard but, be UNSELFISH sometimes. I know that everyone is selfish and only thinks of theirselves [ate, themselves po. :))] and their families and loved ones but we should realize that the whole world doesn't revolve around us. It's not the government's fault if the oil price increases. It's happening everywhere you look and if you wanna get to the root of the problem, here it is:

a. resources: we all know that oil is a limited resource and that we are slowly exhausting this valuable resource, i know you were all brilliant high school students and that you were taught basic economics, but if you forgot, let a freshie refresh you: the higher the demand, the lesser the supply, the higher the price. basic. i don't need to elaborate, right??

b. war. let's face it, (no offense meant but) it's all USA's fault. This war that they got themselves into is killing a lot of people and when there's chaos and war, it will be harder to get the oil. (i don't need to explain right? i'm sure you understand why...if not, here's a clue: COMMON SENSE; but they do say common sense is not so common nowadays)
there, now yo know why the oil is that expensive.

3.you're telling the government to cut down tax. OMG. it's as if you're asking your mom to donate ALL her blood to you just for you to live. I assume that you know what taxes are for...but then, if you do, you wouldn't rally right?? let me refresh you again. tax is the bloodstream of the government, take it away, the government will crumble down faster than a badly-baked caked. so, will you let your mom sacrifice her blood for you?? OMG. what a horrible person you are. you're asking your mom to abandon her other millions of children for you. very SELFISH, but, a TYPICAL human being.

4.Tuition fee increase. alright. let me tell you this. kaming mga freshie lang ang may karapatang magreklamo tungkol sa tuition fee increase. bakit, kayo ba ang naapektohan d naman db?? tnx for the care but i think i understand the government why. quality comes with price. come on, we're the best university in town (heck, in the country) and our tuition fee is way low. d b keo nakokonxenxa sa mga prof nating mga doctors and masters?? ang gagalin nila pero ang baba ng sweldo nila...buti nga ln, nagtu2ro p rin cla d2 ee...d sa mga private schools who could definitely pay them better.

5. oh yeah, before i forgot, don't you know that civil unrest (that is, the rallies, the protests, the war inside the country) is affecting the economy? more chaos=less investors, less investors=less work, less work=no money, no money=no food. MORE CHAOS=NO FOOD. is this your goal?? coz, ur not helping our country prosper, you're just us helping dig our own grave.

time to be a Filipino.

but i think it would be unfair for me to just say stuff and not give a solution...

i think that the only way for our government to be stable and everything to be alright is through a civil war. it's harsh but it's reality. without a civil war, there will be no nationalism. I mean, if there was a war, people will offer their lives for the country and we'll all remember what the past heroes did and we would honor our country, just like what happened in other countries, after their civil war, they become united.

that is not the best solution but well, it is the only thing i could think of at the moment...don't worry, as we course throught different philosophers in soc sci 2, i'll offer more insights. right now, we're still in plato and what he's saying is too futuristic and there would be a revolution if we do that "abolishing of family" thingy.

p.s: for those who don't know, i'm a pol sci major, and a freshie ^_^

mang-aaway ako!! >:)

1. no comment.

(hahaha!! unang-una pa lang, NO COMMENT na agad eh!! :)) jesse, akala ko ba mang-aaway ka?! XD)

EWAN.

na-discuss namin sa Econ 100.1 (go mam monsod! sir arcenas! and of course, sir JJ! haha.) ang tungkol sa mga market failures. imperfect competition. monopoly. oligopoly. et cetera. at dahil dyan, may government intervention. one of their roles is to assure that there is price stability in the economy. but can we see our government doing that well? i don't know. but if there's such a thing as market failure, there is also government failure.

you're talking about being UNSELFISH, but don't you think you're being SELFISH yourself? You said it's not the government's fault if the oil price increases, but are they doing anything to at least try to bring it down? yes, they give subsidy to those public transport drivers, but it's not enough. as they say, Prevention is better than Cure. hindi ba't mas maganda nang gamutin ang sakit through operation, kesa bigyan mo lang nang bigyan ng gamot ang isang may sakit, without any assurance na gagaling siya? ok, i think i'm commiting a false analogy (wow, may natutunan ako sa eng 10!), but i hope you get what i'm trying to say. :D

2a. resources:

yes, i know that oil is a limited resource. and i think it's partly our fault why Peak Oil is slowly becoming a reality (no, it has long been a reality). time will come that oil would be history. and i think that time isn't far. (maybe tomorrow?)

eto malupit eh: YES, I BELIEVE I WAS A BRILLIANT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT. NO WONDER I GRADUATED FROM A SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL. OOPS, CORRECTION: REGIONAL SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL. AND YES, WE WERE TAUGHT BASIC ECONOMICS (thanks to sir bacabac).[ sorry naman, nagmamayabang lang. hayaan na.... :))]

and no, i'm sorry but i didn't forget that the higher the demand is for a product, supply goes down, price increases. BASIC. of course you don't need to elaborate. but girl, wag mo masyadong ipangalandakan na FRESHIE ka. PROUD KA MASYADO EH.

2b. war

:)) noon pa lang naman, hindi na ko pabor sa pag-ratrat ng US sa Iraq (and others). i don't even know if until now, i still believe that 9/11 was perpetrated by them (ykw). kasi may mga narinig nga ko na mga kung anu-ano tungkol kay Bush. oh well. off topic. that's why Obama: Change We Can Believe In.ngeh. hahaha. ano ba.

3. i think another false analogy. but anyway, sige papatulan ko.

OT: mahilig kang mag-refresh no? kanina ka pa refresh nang refresh eh. :))

5. WOOOW.... clap, clap, clap.

ang galing mo naman..... ALAM MO NA CIVIL UNREST IS AFFECTING THE ECONOMY. and wow uli, na-konek mo yung MORE CHAOS=NO FOOD. bravo.

...... WHATEVER.

time to be a Filipino? tell that to yourself.

now to your suggested solution........

CIVIL WAR ba? yun ba ang gusto mo? tsk tsk. mag-isip isip ka muna, ate.

at ok ka, ha. dinamay mo pa si Plato. :))

and another thing, PolSci Major ka? ...... TINATANONG BA?

ate, in case you forgot, let me refresh you, isang buwan ka pa lang dito sa UP. malamang sa malamang marami ka pang hindi alam sa mundong pinasok mo. siguro after ilang sems, maiintindihan mo na rin kung ano talaga ang kasalukuyang sitwasyon ng UP at ng Pilipinas.

tsaka di ba sabi mo, we're being SELFISH? eh ikaw?

tsk. FRESHIE KA PA NGA LANG.
